Who is the client

Support Crew is a Brisbane based, family owned business that was established in 2011. Born from owners’ Leah and Darren’s passion for adventures in the great outdoors, the company is all about connecting with customers, sharing advice and helping with planning and preparing customers for their own adventures, with the option to sell and hire quality adventure gear.

The challenge

Starting as a home business, Support Crew was looking for a site to help them grow into something more. This meant moving from WordPress to Shopify to change the company’s online presence from a general informational site that required customers to enquire about their offerings, to an eCommerce store that allows customers to see each individual product for sale or hire and check out immediately if they wanted to purchase.

What we did

The main goal for us was to make Support Crew’s site ready to scale up as needed. To achieve this, we designed elements that helped evolve their branding, added eCommerce features to allow customers to view all products then purchase and check out straight away, and adding pricing and quoting functionality to products for hire for the Support Crew team to follow up on.

Working within Shopify’s framework, we used tags to differentiate for sale and for hire products. We also used this method to expand on Shopify’s blog functionality in order to separate events and news so users could both shop for gear and get advice on their adventures.

The result was a beautiful, dynamic, responsive Shopify website that improved the user experience and functionality for Support Crew staff. Without the need for lots of apps or hard coding certain functionalities, we were able to customise the filtering of products, blogs and ability to purchase or hire, as well as giving Support Crew the tools to use their online store without the need for technical knowledge.
